- Abstract: Lactobacillus paragasseri and Lactobacillus gasseri are two closely related bacterial species with growing recognition as probiotics having a broader ecological adaptability spanning both gut and vaginal niches. We performed integrative genomic and functional profiling of L. paragasseri and L. gasseri strains to elucidate their probiotic and therapeutic potential in enteric infections and systemic host health. Oral administration of L. paragasseri in a murine model of cardiometabolic disorder conferred notable anti-steatohepatitis and cardioprotective effects by suppressing Pseudomonadota abundance and restoring gut eubiosis.
