- Abstract: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus2 appeared as one of the deadliest Coronavirus causing worldwide mortality and morbidity. The virus has 4 structural genes that is Spike membrane nucleocapsid and envelope and 16 non structural genes NSP1 to NSP16. The virus belongs to the largest family of RNA viruses i.e. Coronaviruses. As of date there are 7 forms of Human Coronaviruses reported four of which are mild while three forms are severe SARS CoV 1 MERS CoV and SARS CoV 2. When the SARS CoV 2 appeared in the year 2019 in China it was named as Wuhan strain but slowly it took the form of pandemicity and many new variants were reported from the world in the form of Alpha Beta Gamma Delta and Omicron etc. Though World Health Organization declared the end of its pandemic in the year 2023 yet in some pockets of the world there are reports of its presence. Thus there is a need for continuous monitoring and reporting of new variants or virus profiling such that awareness of the existing form of the virus may be well documented. In our lab we have been working on respiratory viruses including SARSCoV2 since 2019. The sequences of various genes found in the nasopharyngeal swab sample of SARSCoV2 infected patients of this area Uttar Pradesh India is being reported here.
