  • Abstract: Lumpy skin disease is an economically significant viral infection of cattle that has caused recurrent outbreaks across India. Although the pathogen is well studied, the host genetic factors that contribute to differential susceptibility and resilience to LSD remain poorly understood. To generate high-quality genomic resources that enable the investigation of host determinants of disease outcome, we performed whole-genome sequencing of Indian cattle representing animals that were clinically infected, recovered, and apparently healthy during field outbreaks within the herds. The dataset includes short-read paired-end whole-genome sequences generated from multiple indigenous breeds including Gir, Tharparkar, and Sahiwal cattle. Peripheral blood samples were collected under field outbreak conditions, genomic DNA was extracted, and high-depth sequencing was performed using Illumina platforms. The dataset represents a comprehensive genomic resource for analyzing SNP variation, structural variation, and immune-pathway-associated polymorphisms linked to disease susceptibility. The purpose of this study is to create a genomic dataset that supports research on disease resistance genetics, innate immune responses, host-virus interaction pathways, and population genomics of Indian cattle. These data have been used to identify variants in key immune genes and to explore the population structure and breed-specific genomic signatures associated with differential responses to LSD infection.
